Description

GHK has teased us in the 2023 MOA that they would be updating their gas-powered M4 / AR-15 platforms to Version 3, wowing exhibition goers with the heavy recoil and some videos were circulating the internet giving GBB players something to look forward to. Well, here it is, the first M4 / AR15 GBB rifle that features the GHK V3 gas system for the M4 / AR 15 platform.

First let's talk about the updated system, as this will be implemented on every M4 / AR-15 gas rifle from GHK, the GHK AR-15 / M4 V3 gas system focuses on increasing gas efficiency, while also increasing the felt recoil when shooting the gas rifle, seems like something that shouldn't go hand in hand, however, GHK has done it, delivering heavy recoil and could pull off 200 rounds in one gas charge in semi-auto, with 120 round on full auto, and these results were shown on GHK's official X account. Some of the notable changes from the V2 gas system were increased air volume by 20%, updated nozzle, stainless steel buffer, updated Hop-up unit, and the updated V3 GHK GMAG gas magazine.

The M4 carbine and M16 are not ideally suited for all missions, so it was proposed that the modularity of the M16 series would allow a user to replace the upper receiver of an existing weapon with one more suitable to the task. One of two proposed special mission receivers that were planned for inclusion into the SOPMOD Block II kit, the CQBR has taken off on its own. Like the proposed Special Purpose Receiver, the Close Quarters Battle Receiver has been more or less taken on by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (often referred to as NSWC-Crane or just "Crane") as its own project following the CQBR's removal from the SOPMOD program. Just as the Special Purpose Receiver morphed into the Special Purpose Rifle, and was type-classified as Mk 12 Mod 0/1, the complete CQBR-equipped carbine has been type-classified as the Mk 18 Mod 0, or the Mk 18 Mod 1 with a sightless gas block and full-length accessory rail kit.

The V3 Hop Up unit now allows users to adjust it much more easily compared to the older V1 and V2 which were direct copies of the aging Western Arms AR-15 / M4 gas system, which requires users to either detach their handguard or find a tool to finesse into the tight space to adjust the hop, this is no longer the case now. Took them a while to get here, but it's never too late.

Last but not least, GHK noted that their M4 / AR-15 gas airsoft platform is dual-powered just like the previous version, meaning you could use CO2 and green gas with V3 CO2 magazines being released at a later date, however, you could still use GHK's V2 magazines with the V3 rifle but do note that you may not have last round bolt stop using the V2 magazines in the V3 rifle.

The MK18 Mod 1 we have here is a faithful replication of the same model fielded by the many special operators. The gun is a fully licensed product so you will get authentic markings. The gas system is superb and the felt recoil is extremely satisfying. GHK has always done exceptional work in regards to their gas system and quality of their gun and this one is no exception. The over all lighter weight, when compared with other models on the market, makes this gun a great shooter and lighter magazines make it much easier to carry multiple at once.

Taking advantage of the latest gas system from GHK the gun is expected to be able to perform very well and not eat up a ton of gas.
