Description

The T91 assault rifle is developed and produced by the 205th Armory of the National Defense in the Republic of China or Taiwan, it is based on the proven T86 rifle and incorporates features from the M16 and the AR-18 with more modern features. Adopted by the Taiwanese military in 2003, the T91 is a lighter and shorter rifle compared to the T65 which the T91 replaced.

An airsoft replica of a service rifle of an Asian country is a rare sight, although we have seen the Type 98 from Japan made by Systema and Tokyo Marui, with Real Sword creating replicas of the Type 56 and recently with E&L's T191, a replica of Taiwanese rifle? Now that is rare. The VFC T91 SOC GBB Airsoft Rifle is a faithful replica of the current standard issue rifle that is in the Taiwanese military, although this may not look like the barebones T91 that we see as this particular version has the SSRA handguard which stands for the Solidi Slim Rail A Type which keeps the low profile nature of the original front handguard on the T91 but made it more tactical and can take both Picatinny and M-LOK accessories.

The VFC T91 uses a modified version of their tried and true VFC M4 / AR15 V3 Gas System, meaning many parts are compatible especially the magazine, although the T91 magazine has a unique outlook to it, it will work with other M4 / AR 15 gas airsoft rifles using the VFC V3 gas system. The only biggest difference is that the T91's selector goes from safe, semi, 3-round burst, and then full auto, an interesting feature, as this means you will need to rotate the fire selector 270 degrees if the gun's on safe to select for full auto.

If you wish to collect a piece of Taiwan's military history that could also be skirmish-able, the VFC T91 is not a bad choice at all, and with Taiwan soon replacing their T91s to the T112, this will soon be a history piece too!
