Description

CTM AAP-01 Fire Selector Plate Upgrade Part is a CNC machined hardened 6061 aluminium upgrade replacement to replace the zinc alloy part manufactured by AA. The original part can wear down after a few thousand rounds, however sometimes they last longer, it's kinda like rolling a dice :)
CTM have therefore made this CNC part out of 6061 hardened alloy, which has then received hard anodise treatment to ensure that it will last you a lot longer than the original! 7075 is a harder aluminium but has not been used for this part for two reasons:
It's extreme hardness damages the upper tab on the trigger sear as can be seen below.
6061 has far better thermal conductivity over 7075 therefore will not heat up and expand. Another factor in parts wear.
We deliberately chose to hard anodise this part red so you can see where the friction wears away the surface. If it was left bare silver, you would not really be able to see this clearly at all. From the first few shots, you will see the red start to fade a bit and eventually expose the silver coloured aluminium underneath. Do not fear! This is supposed to happen. The anodising creates a coating that is merely microns thick but what it also does is permanently seal the micropores that are naturally found in aluminium. This hardens the surface and vastly reduces the wear caused by the friction of the parts sliding against each other as you fire the pistol.
In testing, CTM fired 7000 rounds through an AAP-01 pistol in full auto mode using a drum mag. To further increase the 'brutality' of this test, we also fitted the new Advanced Superlight Bolt, also by CTM so that the pistol was cycling at a constant 45 rounds PER SECOND! We did this for three hours, allowing for gas freezing, or it would have taken less time.
So, what was the result? The gas chamber slightly melted and sections broke off, as would be expected under this kind of punishment. HOWEVER, the Fire Selector Plate and Advanced Superlight Bolt system were completely intact!
